What can I plant in my old tomato and pepper trough?

Hello, so this past spring was my first attempt at growing some veggies. I planted tomatoes, bell peppers, and mariachi pepper that were all a huge success. But, now that fall is upon us and I know that this latest fruit yield will probably be the last I am wondering, what I can do with the trough? Are there certain plants that would not do as well in soil that previously grew tomatoes/peppers? and should I plan on growing something other than tomatoes/peppers in that trough next spring?

I made it through my first vegetable garden season...but what now?

Oh, and I am in the north Dallas, TX area so we are still in late summer 90s. I would really like to try a small autumn veggie garden if I can.
