How late can bulbs be planted?

I soooo love tulips...always been my fav flower. Now I'm moving to a new place in early Nov. and would like to put some tulips and other spring flowers out in an area that will be over-run with morning glories & moon flowers in the summer. Can I buy bulbs and plant them as late as Nov. 7 in my area? We've had some patchy frost already but hopefully (since I have other plants I'm digging up and taking with) we'll get a good warm spell later in the month or at least no freezes until later in Nov.

Also any recommendations on good tulips to plant? I love color, would like some pretty fool proof ones to get started and some earlier ones mixed with later ones would be great. I'll probably add some pansies and violas to the mix come spring so I expect I'll mark the bulb locations as I plant.

Thanks!

Tulips are a bulb that can be planted as long as you can still dig in the ground.

Most spring flowering bulbs you would want in the ground before November in your zone, but Tulips it doesn't matter.

Thank you very much. Now just need to get to the nursery to see if they have any bulbs left.AND figure out how many I want.
