I'll attach a planting fact sheet so that you can review your own planting technique. It's pretty darned easy to get your plants off to a very bad start if you don't know a few basic rules. In my opinion, there is little reason for planting shock, if all is done correctly.

By the way, were your plants grown in containers or field grown (B and B)? How large are they?

We can't help you judge the watering situation, since we don't know what kind of soil type you have. And does the site drain well? Too much OR too little watering after planting can cause problems for a new plant. I've seen trees in serious problems because of both!

Right off the bat, I can tell you that the most common planting error is to plant too deeply.
