Brand New Beds + Tulips?
| | |
Posted by comearoundruby Central NC (My Page) on Thu, Oct 8, 09 at 13:53
| I am planning on utilizing the wet newspaper + layers of mulch and topsoil method to create new flowerbeds for the spring. There are no markers for beds and currently my yard is bare dirt, mostly decomposed mulch, and weeds. I would really like to put some bulbs in the new beds, but will the flowers (tulips, daffodils, some small iris) grow through the newspaper? Should I but the bulbs on top of the newspaper layer instead of under? |

| Welcome, Ruby! Living in too-hot-for-tulips Texas, I don't know what to advise on them, but there's a Bulbs Forum & an Iris Forum where you can get knowledgeable advice. Best luck, & enjoy your garden! |

| I would personally wait until your beds are finished and prepared before planting bulbs. They will neither like being in top of newspaper nor under. I think you should wait until next fall. |
