would someone please tell me how to root a cutting from a confederate rose?

There is considerable information about taking stem cuttings on the internet. I will send you just one of hundreds of very good websites. I think you will find it easier if you take the cuttings in the spring, but Hibiscus mutabilis is very easy to root and your efforts may be successful at any time.
