How long does it take?

I've recently purchased a few packs of bulb, and have planted them. But I'm not seeing any progress at all. How long does it take for a bulb to usually develop or show progress?

what kind of bulb? Virtually all bulbs in stores right now are spring bulbs. That means you plant them in the fall and they come up in the spring/early summer.

RE: How long does it take?

The bulbs I purchased are not spring bulbs, rather they are the early season bulbs. So I assume they are bulbs for this season.

RE: How long does it take?

What sort of an "early season" bulb? We may talk about early or mid- or late-season, but that is in reference to when the bulb blossoms - there is still a basic amount of time required for growing before it blooms (how long depends on which bulb). It would be helpful if we knew whether you were talking about gladiolia or daffodil or allium or something else...

RE: How long does it take?

FelixDeng...bulbs normally available for sale now are spring flowering. There are some fall bloomers but they are few compared to the spring bloomers. Typically, daffodils (narcissus) and tulips are advertised as being "early, mid, or late-season" bloomers. That bloom time is referring though to spring bloom times. These bulbs are planted now in most areas of the country but do not show any above-ground growth until next spring. They are in their dormancy period now. You note your USDA zone as being "west"...? If you live in a warmer part of the west such as southern CA, bulbs may need special handling in order to perform. If you could post exactly what you planted we could be of much more detailed assistance.
