Hi, something is eating all the leaves and flowers on my (Drunken Parrot Tree) Shotia? The tree was left bare over winter come spring it started shooting and all the flowers were eaten before they opened and now all the new leaf shoots are being devoured can anybody help I thought maybe it was possums is there any other pest or animal that could be eating my tree we planted it about 10years ago and this is the first time anything has attacked it.
thankyou Robyn

RE: shotia tree feast

Have you heard any possums sniggering at night? Any pellets on the lawn or round the tree? Dog going crackers? Scraping noises on the roof after dark?

If you're in a drought area - could be anything that's desperate - including birds. Parakeets would have my instant suspicion - knowing what they do to the early buds as well as the fruit.

If it is possums, your local SPCA may have live capture cages and a release programme for enough kilometres away to make return unlikely.
