need info about saving rose bush !

I received a rose bush and it's too cold here to plant (ground is frozen now) What can I do to keep it alive and healthy till I can plant it in the spring ? Can I put it in my garage (no light there tho) or where I now have it, in a cool room in my house (still not too much light). Will it go dormant naturally ? It has dropped most of its' leaves, but I see some new growth. How much should I water it ? And will it go dormant for the winter if left in the cool room ? Help me, please !
