I've been looking through seed catalogs making lists and dreaming of what I'd love to have. Thinking about winter-sowing, again, even though I haven't been successful in the past with this. Cuphea is on top of list. A red salvia is next. I'm determined to attract hummingbirds and of course, butterflies. Some zinnia for sure but can't decide on color. And herbs, too. The list is long but space is limited. Will need a reality check soon. I still have to sort through the seeds I collected last fall.
I thought pansies were hard to grow from seed and never tried. What's your secret? Maybe I'll get some.

I've got the seed catalogs too, and that always starts me drooling for Spring. Actually now that the days are longer and the light is brighter, I can smell Spring in the air, even tho today snow is on the ground.

I will definitely grow zinnias, I'll winter sow them. I've done WS'ing for several years, the last couple of years haven't had much success. But zinnias always do well for me.

I'm doing more perenniels this year. got to make things easier. I have a torn meniscus, which is improving, but don't know if kneeling is in the picture for this summer. Last summer, when I first got the torn meniscus, I realized the delight of perenniels.

oh and I hope I can find a cherry hirta rudbeckia, my single favorite flower (if I had to pick). Last year I ordered one thru mail and I didn't make it. The one from the previous year did not survive last year's winter. This one is a must-have for me.

Well, now you've done it, Ellenr. All it takes is for someone to say something like "I can smell spring in the air" to trigger a blizzard. LOL.

With so many seeds collected and left over from last year, I'm pretty well set (will do some germination tests to be sure they're good), but I do see some heirloom varieties new to me that I'd like to try.
