NW NJ - Help!

We moved up to Northern Warren county from Norther Ocean County and we from a small yard to 8 acres. Yikes!

I've got lots of questions, and need a whole lot of help, but my biggest issue is that we've got some nasty thorned weed like bushes ALL over our property. I don't know what they are, but we are going to atempt to clear them out as much as we can. Our property is heavily wooded but these are causing some major underbrush issues.

If anyone has any advice, or know what they may be, I'd appreciate it.

They remind me of forsythea bushes, but with thorns.

Could be blackberry or multiflora rose. Roundup will work in spring through fall, but you'll have the dead canes for a while. Digging is a lot of work. Do this project in stages and then plant each area before moving to another area. Eliminate weeds before planting.

rent a brush hog, take it down to the ground, dig up what you can and kill the area with round up. Cutting back and down isn't enough and if it's blackberry bramble it will win a fight to manage it. Eradicate!
