I need some help!

Hi Everyone,

Last year was my 1st year doing a garden in my new house with some really wacky soil. I did OK. I planted some very basic things (yellow squash, zucchini, eggplant, bell/sweet peppers and 5 kinds of tomatoes).

I'm pretty certain my squash/zuchini got killed by a squash vine bore, my peppers just never really grew, my eggplants fizzled and then grew fruit in SEPTEMBER, and my tomatoes did AWESOME.

So i'm back at it again this year, and I really want to make a better go of it. My soil is horribly sandy, mixed with somewhat good soil, mixed with crappy dirt. I plan to rototill the garden areas this year and try to really get it loose and mixed.

So my questions are... Is there anything else I can do to prep the soil? What are some good plants that will grow in my type of soil?

I appreciate any help.
Cristina

Compost, compost, compost and aged manure.

Where I live was once the beach judging by the sand I have in my yard. After 20 years of amending the soil I have to say I'm proud of my soil :)

Cover crops would help too. Good luck!

Andrea
