I was thinking of doing the same thing myself. If you go to the Eat Wild website you can locate farms locally that will sell their beef. Somehow my link was lost but it's a good source!

I'm in CT currently. Eat Wild is an excellent resource -- it is at eatwild.com. Not all sustainable farmers are listed there (my beef and pork supplier isn't), though. Once the farmer's market season opens up (early June in this area usually, although a few are year round), you should be able to make additional contacts at those.

Many high schools have FFA groups that hold sales about this time of year. Check that out.

If you're in or willing to travel to northern NJ, Newton, to be specific, I think you might be interested in what Valley Fall Farm has to offer. I don't know of a direct email address or web site, but you will find location and contact information on the Local Harvest site.

I purchase my garlic planting stock from Roman Osadca at Valley Fall Farm, and have purchased other products as well. Wish it wasn't so far ... an over an hour and a half from my home ... but worth the trip.
