Hate to discourage anyone, but there was quite an apple growing industry here in Jersey and just at the time when disease, which became difficult to manage, ran rampant.
The fruit, if you can get it to be perfect in appearance, may wind up costing you $4 per apple. Perhaps times and sprays have changed, so they are more effective. I found an apple tree locally growing by a broken down abandoned farm house and got a huge, almost unblemished crop of some unknown kind of apple. My wife made excellent applesauce.
The next fall I went and someone had torched the house and the tree was so badly scorched it had died. If you try and have some success, please let people know.

Will do. boy did I miss my cable modem!!!! So glad to return to civilization...
