They are fast growing although they are prone to bagworms and have shallow roots which make them prone to uprooting during high winds and ice storms. I like how they look but the require a lot of work to keep healthy. If I had to do it again I would diversify my hedge by planting many species.

The plants I have in my hedge row are:
Cryoytomeria Japonica (Japanese Cedar)
Leyland Cyphress
Green Giant Cedar
Norway Spruce

I will plant more trees this spring an fall.

You could try ‘Slender Silhouette’ Sweetgums...and any of the suggestions here that are hardy to your zone.

do you understand the ultimate potential of these things???? ... not only in height.. but width .... do you have a big enough yard????

do be fooled by what is claimed to be FAST GROWING ... fast to grow.. fast to disease... fast to decline ...

whatever you do.. dont plant a monoculture ...
