My Snowdrops Are Up!

My snowdrops are up and the flowers are almost ready to pop open! Now if only it would stop snowing and get above 20 degrees, I'd be happy!

These plants were quite a surprise to me in the spring of 2003; we had moved into our house in June of the previous year, when they had already bloomed and died out. They're under a juniper bush at the bottom of my porch steps, and it's so nice to see them there, all white and delicate looking, the first sign of spring!

I love snowdrops. I don't know why everyone doesn't have some. It's great to have flowers in the winter. I have bought bulbs every year but find I never get any plants. Probably because they are so hard to establish. I buy some every year but they never grow.

Well, I guess I gave up too soon. I at least got one of the new ones to grow this year...maybe some more will follow...

Since I last posted, I notice several more clumps of snowdrops that I didn't notice last year! I guess they've started to spread. I'm going to dig some up and bring them in for a gardener friend of mine at work.
