I am so glad I saved my seeds from last year! It was my first time collecting heirloom seeds, and I did so only at the prompting of this site! I got a late start planting, but they are coming along well, and there is a nice variety. If they grow to maturity, I will plan to save ALL my seeds and bring them to any fairs I read about!

Yes, heirlooms are a lot of work, but it's a shame that the "younger generation" of gardeners might lose an opportunity to learn about these wonderful fruits and how fantastic their taste is compared to hybrids.

I have tried a few highly recommended heirlooms and I have had mostly bad results. That has more to do with conditions in my yard. I still think they are fun.
If I had a little more land and we all lived closer together, I would say we can do our own trials. Then some of you have tomatoes already in July and mine don't come until late August - September.
