Looking for a Shrub

I live in central jersey, between my garage door and main door, I have some space (large window) where I would like to plant a shrub, which kind of takes up entire space, be colorful, and fragrant. Can some one suggest me a plant which grows well in central jersey. This space gets morning shade and evening sun. (mostly sunny)
