SPRINGFEST Flower & Garden Show, 2006

Kudos to Alisonn for her recent posting about this absolute

gem of a show that has to be one of the best kept secrets in all of New Jersey! Not only were the garden exhibits

excellent, but there were plants galore for sale; I had no

idea that Atlock Farms (from Somerset), and one of my NJ

favorites, would be there selling - so I went a little nuts

and ending up making extra trips out to the car. And even

though we got there shortly after 10:00am Saturday, just as they opened, someone else beat me to the stunning, 6-foot potted brugmansia (in full flower!) that Atlock was letting go for just $45.00. . .but I made up for my loss

with hellebores (in flower), anenomes (in flower), and a

darkest blood-red amaryllis (in flower). As if all that

weren't enough, someone was selling the best homemade

fudge I've had in ages, and the food tent (it all takes

place in a series of greenhouses and tents) offered up

homemade ham & split pea soup to die for. . .what a day!

You can still catch this show: it runs through Tuesday,

March 14th; admission is only $8. (less for seniors and

children) and worth every penny. . .for more information:
