What is going on with this weather? My irises have buds that look like they might bloom in two weeks! I wonder what will happen if cold temps. come back?

I do wish we get a few more April showers. We've had only about 1.5 inches since April 1 in my area of Monmouth County.

Whoa ... I pass Exit 109 every day on my way to work at Deep Cut! I'll wave as I go by tomorrow, Exit. I, too, wish we'd get a little rain ... just not on our plant swap on Saturday, please.

Senga, I'd have some kind of light coverings on hand if it looks like temps are going to drop to the freezing point. You might also need something to prop it up so the weight of the covering doesn't rest on the buds. A friend in Florida always left his Christmas lights up until he was sure all chance of frost was over. If a late freeze hit, he'd cover his tender shrubs with sheets, blankets, whatever was on hand, and turn those lights on. Looked weird, those multi-colored glowing mounds, but it worked.

It's also too darn cold for this time of year.
