Senga, I'd have some kind of light coverings on hand if it looks like temps are going to drop to the freezing point. You might also need something to prop it up so the weight of the covering doesn't rest on the buds. A friend in Florida always left his Christmas lights up until he was sure all chance of frost was over. If a late freeze hit, he'd cover his tender shrubs with sheets, blankets, whatever was on hand, and turn those lights on. Looked weird, those multi-colored glowing mounds, but it worked. |
