I had a scotch broom for years, and it never reseeded at all. I think the south and the northwest have major issues with it being invasive.

It is very invasive in the Pacific NW. I've never read of a problem here in the East. Mine hasn't selfsown yet. If you do a search here on GW and other garden forums, you will probably find several posts from people on the East side of the country claiming it hasn't been invasive for them. Have you found otherwise?

Thanks for the quick replies. Everything I can find on the internet seems to indicate that it's invasive in some areas, but no I haven't seen anything about the NE. The one article said in the NW it has exploding seedpods that spread it everywhere and that got me a little worried. Someone mentioned pulling it out with a truck and winch. It sounds like it's ok here though and I guess the nurseries wouldn't have it if there was a problem. I just wanted a little confirmation.

Most nurseries are in business to make money, and will often carry invasive plants. Don't use them as an authority on invasiveness or even what is perennial in your area.

I just bought 2 from the garden center (lilac). I saw the yellow also the name was moonlight broom from monrovia. I think this is the non-invasive type of broom.
