NJ Botanical Gardens is Closing itÂs Doors

Due to the passing of Mr. Tine last year, Mrs. Tine has decided to retire, and sadly, the NJ Botanical Gardens Plant Shop will not be open this year.

On April 7th, 8th, and 9th. (this Thursday, Friday, and Saturday) from 9:30 AM to 3:30 PM we will be liquidating all of the greenhouses and their contents. This is not a plant sale.

There are rooms of tools, machinery, scrap metal, furnaces, fans and loads more. This is an extraordinary sale. You may purchase a quanset house, a furnace, and a fan (we have several) and grow your own plants.

In addition to this, we are liquidating the estate. There are antiques and collectibles, mahogany dining room, bedrooms, tables and chairs. Loads of bric-a-brac, linens, china, old papers, books, and photos. There are rugs, quilts, household items, costume jewelry and more.

We would like to thank all of you for your many years of dedication to our unique business. Mr. Tine always loved to grow unusual varieties of plants. He reaped as much joy as the customers as he watched them delight over the tremendous selection of plants that he always strove to provide.

I just read your post, and I am sick about it!

I am from Wanaque. I was married at the Manor in 1975. I used to sing at concerts thereÂ (I now live in Huntsville, Alabama.)

I so love the manor house and grounds. Back when I still lived in Jersey, it was still called SkylandÂs Manor. It was not the "Botanical Garden".

Is there a time-frame on the closure? WhatÂs going to happen to the property?

I would so like to have a plant from there - just to preserve my memories... I spent time there every spring, summer and fall of my childhood and young adult life...

Meadowlark- relax. Wrong NJ Botanical. The closing one is the greenhouse in Hillsborough.

Oh I am so sad to hear its closing up. THat was a great place to find some neat things.I moved from NJ 21/2 years ago but one of the places we would go every year was the Botanical Gardens to see all those neat and odd things. I wish Mrs.Tine the best of luck and please tell her we are sad to hear of the closing. We heard of Mr.Tines passing and we were waiting to hear what was going to happen so we know on our visit to NJ to visit or not to visit. Thanks so much for letting us know :^(
