Deer damage to red-twigged dogwoods

Last year I planted 3 Redtwigged Dogwoods. Over the winter they were damaged by deer. They were not eaten but branches were torn loose as the deer walked by or rubbed them. There are now partially broken branches. How do I treat these? Cut them off cleanly? Use anything on them? Any help will be appreciated.
