Bloomfield-Montclair CSA

Has anyone had experience with this or any other CSA? I never heard of a CSA until this week and would love to give it a try, but am not certain whether it is worth the money. Any ideas?

Thanks!

Why not try it?

RE: Bloomfield-Montclair CSA

The Bloomfield-Montclair CSA had no opening for me, so I tried the Purple Dragon Co-op in my area.

I was a substitute last night for a member who couldn't participate this week. Didn’t know what to expect. For $49 this is what I received:

1 lb peas
6 oz blueberries
1 ½ pounds carrots
1 lb bananas
2 ½ lb apples
4 ears corn
2 lb eggplant
1 ½ lb spinach
3 heads lettuce
4 peaches
2 lbs squash
1 bunch cilantro
1 bunch kale
1 bunch celery
2 tomatoes

Not bad! And it is all organic!

It is entirely too much for me to eat. Thought about making a soup. Have no idea what to do with the kale and/or eggplant and/or cilantro. Onto the internet I go to look up recipes.

Next time (after I become a member) I will halve my share with a co-worker and hopefully that will work out.

The peaches and apples (mutsu) were superb! I munched away while cleaning the veggies and putting them away.

I look forward to future pick ups of this (mostly) local, organic produce
