The original Knock Out, along with Blushing and Pink, do very well here. There are several public plantings of the original Knock Out in Eatontown, they get minimal care. If they get any blackspot at all, it is minimal, and there is no leaf loss. Double is brand new this year (I saw 5 at Middletown Garden Center today, pounce if you're into it), but it is expected to have the same characteristics as it's "sister" Knock Out.

If you go to the plant sale at Frelinghuysen, you will see a very successful planting of Knockout. There are maybe 5? bushes planted together in front of the gazebo overlook by the little wetland example they have. Its by the entrance of it on the left side, near the paver crosswalk. Very healthy full plants with dark green red leaves and lots of flowers. They do spray though.

There are excellent and minimal care and will do quite well in zone 6. If you are in the central jersey area, you can get these at Kristoph Nursery in Millstone for a better price. I planted a Knockout in a pottery container and left it out all winter and it has flushed green growth all over. It had bloomed all the way up to our freeze in December.

They start at $32 but just wait it out, you'll find it marked down.

Knoockout does very well for me. I usually do not spray and have relatively little sun as well. I only spray if the leaves are badly are getting badly eaten.
