Return of the the Native: 24 spontaneous Jack-in-the-Pulpits

In clearing away a forsythia bush for my nativizing campaign I found a mother Jack-in-the-Pulpit and 23 seedlings of various sizes. My yard really isn't be their natural habitat, even under a forsythia bush, being a well-drained slope, but if they want to try it...

The former forsythia site is sunny and would turn to baked clay in the summer, so I moved them to a shady part and gave them water gel under their feet.

I am so happy to see natives coming back - the ones brought by the birds are delightful surprises - 4 smilacinas, a redbud, a mysterious violet (eaten by deer a day later). Some of the ones I have tried to re-establish have taken off - mayapple, Virginia bluebells, bloodroot. Others struggle, but hang on. And some fail.
