Well, it feels chilly to me too, but perhaps just a tad warmer here south of the Raritan River? Peppers and eggplants were planted out April 20 along with everything else (tomatoes, beans, lettuces, herbs) and look quite happy. The water-filled milk jugs and 2-liter soda bottles were no longer needed in the greenhouse, so I tucked them in around the base of the heat-loving plants on top of the straw mulch. Tomatoes and peppers have blossoms; harvested a few green beans already. Lettuces, herbs and snow peas are really doing great, quickly filling in and replacing what I've harvested.

BTW, I really did take a chance planting so early, but I was ready to cover and protect everything if the need arose ... I just couldn't wait any longer :-)
