I'd have to pay attention and see if we have as much brown in our squirrels as that but I am sure I've seen some brown.
When we lived in the Bronx, the squirrels were very colorful - black, gray, brown. I think we even had a white one but that was long, long ago.

Having nothing but gray tailed rats, I did notice a brown tailed (looked almost reddish brown) amongst the "crowd" within the last month. I wondered where it came from, never having seen one in my yard before...

We have lots of brown-tailed squirrels around, but that guy looks like he borrowed one from a fox.

Just driving down my street this morning, I saw two more with the same colored tails. I wonder what's going on!

The 1st time I saw this squirrel only the tail was visible from behind a bale of straw. I thought it was the next door neighbors orange cat taking another dump in the yard. I was shocked when it stepped out from behind the bale.

Maybe I should put in a call to Al Gore, can we blame this on Global Warming? :)

Could be Fox Squirrel's moving into New Jersey?

I know we've had the smaller Red Squirrels set up shop the last two years at our place, mixed in with the larger Grays.

IÂve spotted 3 more since then, just their tails are brown.

Wonder if I can blame this on global warming?
