Who hit Bowman's Hill? last day today the 20th

I was so bad... azaleas My Mary and Marydel, both smelling like heaven, skullcap, foxglove penstemon, a May-flowering AND a June-flowering Silene virginiana, bluets, native witch hazel, Virginia sweetspire, cream violet.

Calycanthus Athens has long been on my list but at 40 bucks it was just too much... if it had been in full scent as they said it had been just an hour before I probably would have succumbed...

It's wonderful to see a forest with an understory again - they have 9 foot tall automatic gates to keep out the deer (and a fence that high all around - got to do mine this summer). The azaleas were going strong - periclymenoides mostly and some candulaceum. The trilliums were fading and the woodthrushes were singing everywhere.

Kudoes to Bowman's Hill for not running out of plants (much) - the Philadelphia Herbal Society had been pretty well stripped by the time I got there.
