anyone had this problem at Rare Find?

If you go to the Garden Watchdog website, people rave about the large plants they receive from Rare Find, bigger than they expected.

But the three times I have gone to Rare Find, I have never been able to buy a plant at catalog prices. They always tell me, that plant is taller than what's in the catalog, and poof! - a month's softwood growth and they charge 40% more.

They have plants I want and can't find elsewhere but I'm done with them - I leave with a bad, ripped-off feeling every time I go there, and I know they don't treat their mail-order customers that way.

Being a frequent customer, always on visits, I was interested in your analysis. Some individuals there may be doing this, without the owner's knowledge. I know them well enough, or am eccentric enough, to actually ask them, next visit, what is going on. I have never had a complaint, over the years.
