how much water is enough?

Hi all,
New to gardening and lawn maintenence - just moved in to 1st house!
--should i run my sprinkler system every day or is that to much at this time of year?

| three times a week,25 minutes an area and depending how many zones try to start around 5am. I have 9 zones, so I sart 3am |

| Most plants including grass will grow well with one inch of rain per week. So first water when you need it. lawns will grow deeper roots with a more thorough watering. 3 times per week seems too much. watering right before day break is the best. if this is your first house and you have never paid a water and sewer bill get ready. http://njaes.rutgers.edu/garden/ Read all you can.
