| I posted this over in Trees but thought I'd try here too.
One of my shagbark hickories looks as if it might have anthracnose. That would be o.k., except a second tree in close proximity is, apparently, very healthy. I know that when sycamore get anthracnose, if one has it they all have it. Any other ideas what might be ailing the hickory? |

| No ideas either. I grew up with shagbark hickories and I never saw any problems in any of them. They are one of the east's most beautiful trees. We had one really old one in the front yard which wood ducks used every year for nesting. I remember my oldest sister yelling out shortly after we moved in, "there's a duck in the tree"! She got some ribbing about that, as you might imagine; that is until the rest of us saw whe was right. Hopefully someone will give you an answer. |

| a couple of my dogwoods get anthracnose when we have wet springs - like this one - the next year they could be fine. I try to make sure they don't get another load of stress later on that year so I water them when it is droughty, and I might give them some fertilizer spikes. Lisa |
