What happened?!?!?!

Let me preface by saying, I should have taken a picture and didn't.

Last night I went out to give the garden some TLC and I was shocked and horrified by what I found. Everything seemed normal until I glanced towards the back and saw that 1 of my yellow squash plants had basically just died.

All the plants around it are perfectly fine. There are no spots or marks on the leaves, it hadn't been eaten and there was no sign of a break or digging. It literally looks like someone sucked the water out of it and it just shriveled to the ground. It had been thriving the day before.

Does anyone have any idea what could have happened??!?! I've never seen anything like it before.

Sudden death of the whole plant? Probably Squash Vine borer.

Yes, sudden death of the entire plant! I'll have to do some research. Is there anyway to protect my other plants???

Bury some long stems in the ground so they can root. It is often recommended to plant a 2nd set of plants in July after the borer has finished its life cycle.
