Can anyone tell me how to find a good local arborist or recommend one? I am in Monmouth County.

Call your extension center and find out if they have the list with designations. They might not give you a name but they might let you come in and look at it.

Yes, try calling the Monmouth County Master Gardeners at 732-303-7614 weekdays 9-4. They have a list of Certified Tree Experts (all trained by Rutgers) from which you can choose.

Rutgers also has a fact sheet about how to hire tree care professionals here.

And if it is for a sick tree as apposed to a cut down, make sure you get the right letter designation. Someone here can probably remember what it is...I forgot...maybe "f"...

It is for an opinion on if two trees are growing too close, and if so, which should come down.
