Arborist/Essex County Area

Hi, can anyone recommend an arborist/tree expert (rather than just someone who does tree pruning/removal) who can diagnose and advise on my old weeping cherry tree? It seems about half dead, very few leaves, and some of the roots appear to be rotting.

We had it trimmed in the spring, but it hasn't helped. I hate to have it taken down, but I'd like to find out sooner rather than later if we need to act on it, for fear of it breaking in the winter.

Try Crestview Tree Service in New Providence. Their phone # is (908) 464-2673.

When we've had work done, the person there who I know has had formal training as an arborist shows up to give us the estimate, but you might want to specify what you need when you call to be sure. We've been using them for years.

A good place to look is the Internation Society of Arborists website which has a listing of certified arborists.

Two firms that we got estimates from were Maplewood Tree Experts in Maplewood and Trees, Inc. in East Hanover. Both had certified arborists who gave us advice on an old Sycamore.
