What was this (citrus?) tree growing wild?

I came across a tree recently in Thompson Park in Monmouth County. It was a tall-ish tree, and had growing on it green fruit. These fruits seemed to grow in 3's.

You can see an image of it here:

I was wondering what this tree/fruit was, and if it grew natively.

Thanks!

Hmmm, from here it looks like a black walnut. Not a citrus, it is native to the eastern and midwestern U.S.

Did you ask any of the park staff?

I'll second that ID, Black Walnut, Juglans nigra. Fairly common around here.
