| Have an area approx 12' long 3' deep in front of a large picture window in front of our house. Considering growing Daphne there. This area would be between the house and a low row (20" high) of existing yews. I've read pretty extensively about Daphne but just have no experience with it. Wondering if anyone who has experience with this plant knows how it might fare in this spot? I know it isn't crazy about being transplanted. This area has fairly dense shade, some refracted light, against a north facing foundation. (I hear it's susceptible to splitting but thought maybe this location might offer enough protection from mounding snow and ice). I'd appreciate your insights. Thanks! |

| It does well in part shade or light shade, but must have well-drained soil. Sandy soil is excellent and it doesn't mind some tree root competition. It's moderately drought tolerant. Daphne odora thrives in sililar conditions, although not as hardy. I have an odora that's nearly 5' by 5'. D. odora
