Identify Caterpiller

| I'm trying to identify a caterpillar that is currently in the woods on my property. I've never seen it before and initially I didn't realize it was something alive. It is devouring the leaves of what I believe to be sumac, we refer to it as the weed tree. I have photos but don't know how to post them. It is totally white, looks almost feathery, and if you touch it the feathers come off on your hand. I say feathers because I don't know how else to describe it, not hairs. |

| google in 'Tussock Moth' and see if you can find a photo of the caterpillar. Your's may be a related species. They are 'hairs' and they, usually, result in a irritating rash on skin that is not tough. |
