Cedar lost its needles, how do i prevent?

my cedar has lost its needles on the bottom and the ones on top are starting to turn brown.it started about a month ago and is getting worse every week.is there any kind of fertilizer i can give it?

Fertilizer is unlikely to help. A small amount of browning, inside and at the bottom may just be a natural, seasonal shedding, but it sounds as if the plant is dying. Full Sun is a definite requirement for full growth. Shade may not kill the tree, but it will be less attractive.
