Calla lilly mystery

| Bought one last year at a local nursery and planted next to my small pond. Dug up the bulb for the winter and returned it outside when it had sprouted, sometime in May. Well, there are four tall, healthy looking leaves, but there has never been even the slightest indication of a flower. Can anyone give me an explanation for this? Won't bother digging it up this year if it won't flower from now on. |

| They are tricky. I think May was too late to replant it, it should have been put in the ground in late March. It could bloom next year. They also need to be fertilized every two weeks or so when in the ground, they are heavy feeders. I've never pulled any out of the ground, I've heavily mulched and had them leaf out the next year, with blooms the following year. Too much work for me, but they are pretty. |

| I have to dig mine up every year (zone 6). I put mine in pots in late June, and they bloomed. I rarely fertilize. Do yours get enough sun? |

| I am new to this forum. My daughter is getting married this July 11th and wants tons of calla lillies for the wedding. They are so outrageously expensive to buy just as cut flowers----so I was thinking that maybe I could buy a bunch of the bulbs and then plant and grow (I have a greenhouse) in time for them to bloom for the wedding. Is this possible? Do they bloom every year or every other year? She only wants the white ones-any advice on types and do some bloom better than others? Advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks |
