| Many of my fall blooming camellias have no buds (bud set is reduced with drought). But Snow Flurry and Winter's Star both have quite a few buds.
What camellias do you have in bloom? |

| I have a potted 'Snow Flurry' in bloom. In the groung, I have pink flowers on 'Seventh Desire' and 'Pink Butterfly'. I had good bud set on many camellias. |

| Well, mine haven't died yet, that's all I can say. I've been moving them around the yard because they look so bad. But Winter Star is blooming at Frelinghuysen. It is the first time I saw it before frost.

| Winter's Star is also in bloom for me. It is floriferous and very nice although I prefer Snow Flurry which for me has blooms for almost 2 months. My experience here in South Jersey is that small camellias (1-2 years) do not establish well; I have only 1, Winter's Star that has done well, four others that are limping along (no net growth) and two have died. Three year old camellias seem to be rock hardy and not prone to dieback. All five are doing well. |

| My Winter's Joy has been blooming now since late November. The squirrels love the buds. I took pictures earlier this month of the blooms covered with ice crystals from the snow. Looks as though I'll have a few more blooms before it finishes. I'm in North Jersey. Bought the camellia from a green house in Roslyn, NY as a hybridized bush to be winter hardy three years ago. First year all the buds blasted from an early wintry December. It's grown about 2 feet since it's been in the ground here. |

| My camellia"Winter Fire" is in bloom now for a couple of weeks. I find the blooms get frozen pretty easily so I pick them and bring them in, the buds hang in pretty well. I also have a small new "Yuletide" that had one little dark red flower the middle of December. Last year my "April Kiss" set buds by the plenty in the summer and bloomed beautiful the end of April, but this year no buds. I wonder what I will get next spring. |
