I notice the stilt grass on steep, dry slopes did NOT form seed heads this year.

But I also noticed that the stlit grass in damper places that I almost killed myself cutting in late August put out another burst of growth after one rain and now it has gone to seed!

I didn't think that anything ate the stilt grass seeds, but earlier this week there were a whole flock of little sparrows, chippings sparrows?, feasting on the seed heads which means it will just spread.
