Now we get rain!

Hello
Just looked at National Weather Service and it seems we are to get rain for the next 4 days. This has been some gardening season. First no rain for three months, now we are under a flood watch. I guess we can start watching for fungus and molds!
Good luck to us all.

RE: Now we get rain!

I went out at lunchtime and bought some grass seed to thrown down in the thinner parts of my lawn! I tired doing it once before when it was supposed to rain for 5 days and no rain materialized, but I think I'm safe now.

I'm happy to see it. I hope it really does end by midday on Sunday, I still have roses to plant and the ground has been way too hard.

Bought grass seed and waited two weeks for some news that rain might come. Had a slight shower and some cool nights(so I spread the seed) then the dry weather returned. Two days ago the sprouting started, so all this rain is good for me. A lot of watering was going on and I was really expecting restrictions to be put into effect. There is seldom an ideal growing season. I hope I will realize and appreciate one if it comes along, after this Summer.

Well, you can all thank me for the rain since I was suppose to get a new front walk tomorrow.
Your welcome!

Thank you, thank you Loretta! I've got about 7" of water in my rain guage bucket and the stream has overflowed its banks!

So, NJTea, how many inches does your rain gauge show now??

Hi
My "unofficial" rain bucket is showing close to a foot of rain since this started.
Mushrooms all over the place.

My rain guage had over 16" of water in it as of last evening.

We had so much rain in one week. I had put down 200 lbs of grass seed and it is growing like a weed. Also glad put down all that lime to go with, all is watered in.

As a side issue, the excessive rain has somehow resulted in very poor Fall leaf color. Probably fungus. Leaves like the ones on the maples and the Pseudocamellia and Itea, that are supposed to color nicely are either still green or blotchy dark grey brown. I am patient to a fault, so I will appreciate a crisp, ideal Fall when it comes.
