| Comment: The roadside New England asters seem more spectacular this year than in the recent past.
Questions:
1. Did your spice bush, if you have it, not put out many berries this year? I noticed they were coming along but then realized that I never saw all the feeding activity in the bushes as is normal. Either I missed them totally or they were not as prolific.
2. Is there a viburnum that blooms at this time of the year? I saw a viburnum with flowers on it last week, but decided I must have been seeing things. Then coming home from work today, I saw another viburnum (or at shrub that looks like a viburnum) with flowers on it, so I'm now wondering what it might be. |

| I can't help wth the spice bush question; but, some plants do set flower buds 'off-season' depending on the weather earlier in the year - my PJM Rhodies just finished with a sparse bloom, and my neighbor's old Magnolia often blooms (sparsely) in July/August - it normally should bloom in early April - but when it does start to bloom, we usually get a snow storm, and then it blooms later in the summer. Yes, the asters look good this year! |

| V. Sargentii Onondaga had a few late summer blooms though small. Also, some of my shrub dogwoods flower again now. I think Winterbeauty is blooming. |
