I really want my Anemone coronaria to grow

| Hi,
I was tempted to buy some Anemone coronaria (the poppy-flowered kind) at the Brent&Becky 50% off sale. They are not hardy here and I've always lost them before.
Has anyone had luck keeping them warm with mulch, or planting them deeply? Or should I try to force them instead & how long to chill? |

Not even Steve? Maybe in pots in the garage? Have you gotten your B&B order yet? Figures the ground would freeze between now and then. |

| My order hasn't come yet. The weather does not look good for my bulb-planting endeavors. I'm going to have to take the anemones indoors, and hope there is a thaw to get the other 150 bulbs I ordered into the ground. Sigh... |

| Mine either. I read in the other forum you have a detached garage? Me too. I use the attic instead. I am going to try to do some species tulips that way. I went ahead and ordered a few more today, they are so cheap. Meanwhile, I still have a few more bags to do. I should just go out now and do it. Later! Good luck with the anemones. I can't even get the ones that are suppose to be hardy to stick around. |

| Yup, detached garage. I tried chilling bulbs in there for two years before I figured out that it was just too cold. The attic is better, but too warm for some bulbs. Daffs & hyacinths do fine, but the muscari didn't bloom last year, and I got a single tulip flower from the 10 or so in the pot. My husband deals with my bulb addiction, but he refuses to allow dirt, even potted inside baggies, in the fridge. I guess he has a point. |

| First box came today. Meanwhile I drove around picking up some minor bulbs on the clearance racks. Lowes seems to be the only one who marks down to 75% anymore. |
