How to care for a pointsettia

I received a pointsettia for Christmas and don't know the first thing about how to care for it. Any advice would be appreciated.

There are lots of websites dealing with care, I guess it depends on whether you plan to keep the plant until the bracts (colorful leafs) fall off, or as a permanent houseplant.

Apparently they can be a bit tough to get to rebloom. My Mom had one, however, that actually grew to a decent size sprawling houseplant. Quite attractive even without blooms.

Please don't take this the wrong way but the average poinsettia plant can be had for $10 or less at most grocery stores before Christmas. They need frequent watering - let one go "limp" and it will take weeks to get it back in shape. Getting one to rebloom is very difficult. I love them at Christmastime and then I compost the darn things.
