longevity of dried bamboo in the Garden

Dried bamboo stcks seem to be used a lot in Gardens - at least in picutres. Around here I don't see very much - Zone 5. Is that because is does not stand up to our winters?

Has anyone used bamboo in the garden for may years? I'd appreciate learning about your experience.

They are ok to use for one year, like in outdoor pots for clibers. but I find they rot easily in the ground during the winter months. Use stained wood sticks, they sell them in garden centers. Cedar wood is the best.
