On seed packages that say "Plant in early spring" - ie parsnips, lettuce - does that mean now?

Bogart, you can sow your seeds now as these are plants that do fine in cool temp. I planted mine yesterday.

Wow, maybe you didn't get that snowstorm yesterday! The old rule is: Plant peas when the forsythia blooms. I'd say the same for lettuce.

Obviously, this will be a different time depending on where you are. Keep in mind that 'spring' does not refer to calendar dates, especially if your seeds come from the US, BC or UK!

I ususually wait till the ground has dried out and warmed up a bit. They will grow a lot faster than planting in cold, wet soil.
