Hello all, I have an elder shrub that has multiplied beautifully, I would like to split it into three, is it too early? The ground is thawed, but it is still freezing at night. Thanks in advance.

RE: common elders

I don't see why not! I moved a couple of elderberries on Friday, and they were just showing some new leaves at the base. I cut them back and you may wish to do the same. To me this is the best time of year to move shrubs, either while they're still dormant, or just coming out of dormancy.
