What on earth??

What do you suppose at this time of year would be making clean cut holes in my rhubarb leaves - about the size of a dime or a touch smaller? Whatever it is must be pretty hungry to munch on poisonous leaves. I took a peak early this morning and can't see a darn thing underneath. It's not damp that the slugs should be hanging out under there. Sigh! And gardening here has just begun. I don't care so much, but when my lettuce and spinach is up, I don't want those results in my greens patch.

Have you had hail?

Leaf-cutter bees (which are harmless and beneficial, by the way) cut circles from the edges of rose-family plants (so won't bother your garden stuff anyway), so it's not likely them.

No hail, although the weather has been primal for it the last 2 days, had a tornado touch down yesterday a few miles out of town.

I'm going to have to watch my spinach closely because it's not far from the rhubarb.
