Designing a simple edge garden with woolly thyme

green_panther

We just poured a concrete patio and I am in the planning stages of the garden to go around the edges.

I'm in Zone 5 (upstate NY) and already have some plants available that had to be moved for construction:

Columbine

Daylily

Iris

And have some ordered:

24 creeping thyme "plants"

2 knockout roses

Looking for any advice on what worked in your garden...

What would look nice together... (like the roses and iris)

or any suggestions in general.

This is a pretty much full sun area, we lose it in the late afternoon over the house.

This is a link to my photo album and rough layout so far...

Might I ask if you have a colour preference (to go with your home's trim etc)? Are you seeking low maintenance? Are seeking plants that do well with little water?
Once we know what your needs are, we'll be able to offer some helpful plant ideas :)
